Description

A festive red, white, and blue layered dessert made with cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries — perfect for celebrating Independence Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 prepared pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 oz) container whipped topping (or 2 cups homemade whipped cream)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • Optional: raspberries for extra red color

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  2. Fold in whipped topping until well combined to make the cream layer.
  3. In a large trifle bowl or individual cups, start with a layer of cake cubes.
  4. Spread a layer of the cream mixture over the cake.
  5. Add a layer of strawberries and blueberries (and raspberries if using).
  6. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cream and berries on top.
  7. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • Make ahead for easy party prep — just keep it refrigerated.
  • Use store-bought cake to save time, or bake your own for extra flavor.
  • Top with mini flags or sparklers for decoration.
