- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 small carrot, julienned (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 10–15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Add beef in batches and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add cabbage (and carrot if using). Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return beef to the pan and toss to combine. Stir-fry everything for another 1–2 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add chili flakes or a dash of sriracha.
- This dish pairs well with rice, noodles, or can be served on its own for a low-carb option.
- Use pre-shredded cabbage to save prep time.
