Description

Biscuits Gravy Hashbrown Casserole is a hearty, comforting Southern-style breakfast casserole loaded with layers of crispy hashbrowns, savory sausage gravy, fluffy biscuits, and melted cheese. Perfect for brunch, holidays, or feeding a hungry crowd.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 oz) package refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 1 (26–28 oz) bag frozen shredded hashbrowns, thawed
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Butter or non-stick spray for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Do not drain all the grease.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir for 1–2 minutes until flour is absorbed.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the gravy thickens (about 5–7 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from heat.
  5. Spread the thawed hashbrowns evenly in the greased baking dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the top.
  6. Pour the sausage gravy evenly over the hashbrowns and cheese layer.
  7. Cut the biscuits into quarters and arrange them over the top of the casserole.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the biscuits.
  9. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until biscuits are golden and cooked through and the casserole is bubbly.
  10. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use pre-made or leftover gravy to save time.
  • Add scrambled eggs or sautéed veggies to customize the layers.
  • Make it spicy with hot sausage or crushed red pepper.
  • Can be assembled the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
