Description
Brioche Brunch Strata is a rich, savory baked casserole made with buttery brioche bread, eggs, cheese, and your favorite mix-ins like vegetables or cooked sausage. It’s perfect for a make-ahead brunch or holiday breakfast.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups brioche bread, cubed
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage (optional)
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion
- 6 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter, for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Spread brioche cubes evenly in the baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded cheese, sausage (if using), bell pepper, and green onion.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and toppings. Gently press the bread down to soak in the liquid.
- Let the strata sit for at least 15 minutes, or cover and refrigerate overnight for best results.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Customize with cooked bacon, mushrooms, or spinach.
- Best made ahead and refrigerated overnight for deeper flavor.
- Serve with a fresh fruit salad for a complete brunch spread.
