A hearty and indulgent casserole that combines the flavors of a cheeseburger with crispy French fries — loaded with ground beef, cheese, and topped with golden fries for the ultimate comfort food.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 (16 oz) package frozen French fries
- 2 green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)
- Pickle slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté diced onion until softened, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Add ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in salt, pepper, ketchup, and mustard. Remove from heat and mix in sour cream and half of the shredded cheese.
- Spread the beef mixture into the bottom of the baking dish. Top evenly with frozen French fries.
- Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until fries are golden and crispy.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining cheese over the top, and return to the oven for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and pickle slices if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
- You can use waffle fries, crinkle-cut, or curly fries depending on your preference.
- For extra cheesiness, add a cheese sauce layer under the fries.
- Great with chopped pickles or burger sauce drizzled on top.
