Cheesy Cabbage Beef Casserole is a hearty and comforting dish layered with tender cabbage, seasoned ground beef, tomato sauce, and melted cheese. It’s an easy, family-friendly meal that’s perfect for weeknight dinners.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- In a separate large pot, bring water to a boil and cook chopped cabbage for 5 minutes, until slightly tender. Drain well.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half the cabbage, then half the beef mixture, and sprinkle with half the cheese. Repeat layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes if you like some heat.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for future meals.
