Description

Chicken Cordon Bleu is a classic dish featuring juicy chicken breasts stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese, coated in breadcrumbs, and baked or fried to golden perfection. Elegant yet easy, it’s perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter (for drizzling or brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Pound each chicken breast between plastic wrap until about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Lay a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each breast. Roll up tightly, tucking in the sides, and secure with toothpicks if needed.
  4. Set up a breading station: flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs in a third.
  5. Season the flour with salt and pepper. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip in egg, then coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.
  6. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil or brush with melted butter for crispiness.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F / 74°C).
  8. Let rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use toothpicks or kitchen twine to hold the rolls together while baking.
  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs and toast them lightly beforehand.
  • Pairs well with creamy mustard sauce, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes.
