Description

Soft and fluffy Chocolate Hazelnut Rolls swirled with rich chocolate spread and chopped hazelnuts, perfect for a decadent breakfast or dessert treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
  • 1/2 cup chopped toasted hazelnuts
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in melted butter and egg. Add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 12×16 inches).
  5. Spread chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over the surface and sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts.
  6. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 equal rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Brush tops with melted butter and serve warm.

Notes

  • Drizzle with extra chocolate or a sugar glaze for added indulgence.
  • Rolls can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.
  • Swap hazelnuts for almonds or walnuts if desired.
  • Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
