Soft and fluffy Chocolate Hazelnut Rolls swirled with rich chocolate spread and chopped hazelnuts, perfect for a decadent breakfast or dessert treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
- 1/2 cup chopped toasted hazelnuts
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter and egg. Add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 12×16 inches).
- Spread chocolate hazelnut spread evenly over the surface and sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 equal rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush tops with melted butter and serve warm.
Notes
- Drizzle with extra chocolate or a sugar glaze for added indulgence.
- Rolls can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.
- Swap hazelnuts for almonds or walnuts if desired.
- Ensure milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast.
