Description
Crispy Golden Crab Bites are savory, bite-sized appetizers made with fresh crab meat, seasoned to perfection, coated in a golden breadcrumb crust, and fried until crispy. They’re perfect for parties, snacks, or seafood lovers’ cravings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup lump crab meat (picked over for shells)
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, green onions, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Stir in the beaten egg and panko breadcrumbs to bind the mixture.
- Form the mixture into bite-sized balls (about 1 tablespoon each).
- Roll each ball in additional panko breadcrumbs for a crispy coating.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the crab bites in batches, turning occasionally, for about 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with dipping sauces like aioli, tartar sauce, or sweet chili sauce.
Notes
- For baking instead of frying, place crab bites on a greased baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Use fresh or canned crab meat; just make sure it’s well-drained.
- Add a splash of lemon juice or zest for a fresh citrusy twist.
