Description

Crispy Golden Crab Bites are savory, bite-sized appetizers made with fresh crab meat, seasoned to perfection, coated in a golden breadcrumb crust, and fried until crispy. They’re perfect for parties, snacks, or seafood lovers’ cravings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup lump crab meat (picked over for shells)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (plus extra for coating)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, green onions, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Stir in the beaten egg and panko breadcrumbs to bind the mixture.
  3. Form the mixture into bite-sized balls (about 1 tablespoon each).
  4. Roll each ball in additional panko breadcrumbs for a crispy coating.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Fry the crab bites in batches, turning occasionally, for about 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with dipping sauces like aioli, tartar sauce, or sweet chili sauce.

Notes

  • For baking instead of frying, place crab bites on a greased baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Use fresh or canned crab meat; just make sure it’s well-drained.
  • Add a splash of lemon juice or zest for a fresh citrusy twist.
