Description
Croissant Chicken Philly Cheese Sandwiches combine tender chicken with sautéed peppers, onions, and melted cheese, all stuffed in a buttery croissant. It’s a delicious twist on the classic Philly cheese steak, perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 croissants, split
- 2 chicken breasts, cooked and sliced
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 cup red bell pepper, sliced
- 1/4 cup yellow onion, sliced
- 1/2 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced bell peppers and onions, cooking until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, warm the cooked chicken slices for 2-3 minutes, then add the cooked peppers and onions back to the skillet.
- Top with shredded provolone cheese and cover for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
- While the chicken and cheese melt, toast the croissants in a separate pan or oven until golden brown.
- Spread mayonnaise on the inside of each croissant, if desired.
- Assemble the sandwich by placing the cheesy chicken and peppers on the bottom half of each croissant. Top with the other half and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a drizzle of ranch or hot sauce to the sandwich.
- Use any cheese you prefer, such as cheddar or mozzarella, for different tastes.
- Make the sandwiches ahead of time and reheat them in the oven to melt the cheese when ready to serve.
