Description

Croissant Chicken Philly Cheese Sandwiches combine tender chicken with sautéed peppers, onions, and melted cheese, all stuffed in a buttery croissant. It’s a delicious twist on the classic Philly cheese steak, perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 croissants, split
  • 2 chicken breasts, cooked and sliced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced bell peppers and onions, cooking until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, warm the cooked chicken slices for 2-3 minutes, then add the cooked peppers and onions back to the skillet.
  4. Top with shredded provolone cheese and cover for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  5. While the chicken and cheese melt, toast the croissants in a separate pan or oven until golden brown.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of each croissant, if desired.
  7. Assemble the sandwich by placing the cheesy chicken and peppers on the bottom half of each croissant. Top with the other half and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a drizzle of ranch or hot sauce to the sandwich.
  • Use any cheese you prefer, such as cheddar or mozzarella, for different tastes.
  • Make the sandwiches ahead of time and reheat them in the oven to melt the cheese when ready to serve.
