Description
Easy Bow Tie Pasta Lasagna is a fun twist on traditional lasagna, using bow tie pasta instead of noodles. Layered with rich marinara sauce, creamy ricotta, savory ground beef, and melted mozzarella, this dish is quick to prepare and full of flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz bow tie pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook bow tie pasta according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in marinara sauce, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer for 5-7 minutes, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese. Stir until smooth and well mixed.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Top with a layer of cooked bow tie pasta, followed by a layer of ricotta mixture. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with mushrooms or lentils.
- Add a layer of spinach or zucchini for extra vegetables.
- This dish can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days before baking.
