Description

Healthy Chinese Ground Beef & Cabbage Stir Fry is a quick, flavorful, and wholesome meal made with lean ground beef, crisp cabbage, and a savory stir-fry sauce. It’s low in carbs, high in protein, and perfect for busy weeknights or meal prep.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 cups shredded green cabbage
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (optional for thickening)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add shredded cabbage and carrots. Stir-fry for 5–7 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce (if using). Pour into the pan and toss to coat.
  6. If a thicker sauce is desired, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 more minutes until thickened.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in chopped green onions. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Serve hot as-is or over brown rice or cauliflower rice for a complete meal.
