- 1 lb (450g) lean ground beef
- 1/2 head cabbage, shredded
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp chili garlic sauce (optional for heat)
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional for sweetness)
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, stirring for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in shredded cabbage and cook for 4-5 minutes until the cabbage is tender yet still crisp.
- Pour in soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce (if using), and honey or maple syrup (if using). Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and transfer to serving plates.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving. Enjoy hot with rice or on its own for a low-carb meal.
Notes
- For a lower-fat version, you can use lean ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
- If you prefer more vegetables, add bell peppers, carrots, or snap peas to the stir fry.
