Description
Healthy Chinese Ground Beef and Cabbage is a quick, nutritious stir-fry dish made with lean ground beef, tender cabbage, and a flavorful soy-based sauce. It’s low-carb, high-protein, and perfect for busy weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 4 cups shredded green cabbage
- 1 medium carrot, julienned
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add garlic, ginger, and white parts of the green onions. Sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in shredded cabbage and carrots. Cook for 5–7 minutes until cabbage is tender but still crisp.
- Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
- Cook for another 1–2 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with green onion tops and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot on its own or over rice or noodles.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for an even leaner version.
- Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or snap peas for extra vegetables.
- Skip oyster sauce to keep it soy-based and lighter.
