Description

This Homemade Mexican Pizza is a flavorful, Tex-Mex twist on traditional pizza. Crispy tortillas are layered with seasoned ground beef, refried beans, melty cheese, and topped with fresh veggies and tangy sauces for a fun, fast dinner everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade blend)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
  • 6 small flour tortillas
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/4 cup enchilada sauce or taco sauce
  • Oil for frying or brushing (if baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and 1/2 cup water. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. In a separate pan or microwave, heat refried beans until warm and spreadable.
  5. Lightly fry or toast tortillas in a skillet until crisp, or bake for 5 minutes per side.
  6. On a baking sheet, lay out 3 tortillas. Spread a layer of refried beans and top with seasoned beef. Place a second tortilla on top of each one.
  7. Spread enchilada or taco sauce over the top tortillas. Sprinkle with cheese, tomatoes, olives, and green onions.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven and slice to serve. Add sour cream or guacamole if desired.

Notes

  • Customize with your favorite toppings like jalapeños, corn, or salsa verde.
  • For a vegetarian version, skip the beef and double the beans or use meatless crumbles.
  • To make it crispier, bake tortillas separately before assembling.
