Description
The Homemade Sonic Double Smasher Burger is a delicious, juicy burger with two perfectly smashed patties, melted cheese, fresh toppings, and a rich, flavorful sauce, all sandwiched in a soft toasted bun, mimicking the popular Sonic style.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 beef patties (4 oz each, 80% lean ground beef)
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 hamburger bun, toasted
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- Pickles, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
- Form the ground beef into two equal-sized balls (about 4 oz each) but do not flatten them yet.
- Place the beef balls onto the griddle and immediately smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook the patties for 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy, then flip and add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked through.
- While the burgers are cooking, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard in a small bowl to make the sauce.
- Toast the hamburger bun on the griddle until lightly golden brown.
- Assemble the burger by spreading the sauce on both halves of the toasted bun. Place the double smashed patties on the bottom bun, then add pickles, onions, and the top bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Sonic-style double smasher burger!
Notes
- Feel free to add other toppings like lettuce, tomato, or bacon for extra flavor.
- If you prefer a spicier burger, add some hot sauce or jalapeños.
- For a true Sonic feel, serve with a side of crispy tater tots or fries.
