Description

Crispy and flavorful Indian Cheese Twists made from flaky pastry layered with spiced cheese, perfect as a savory snack or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup grated paneer or cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix grated cheese, garam masala, chili powder, cumin seeds, cilantro, and salt.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface.
  4. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over half of the pastry.
  5. Fold the other half over and press lightly to seal.
  6. Cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
  7. Twist each strip several times and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and puffed.

Notes

  • Substitute paneer with mozzarella or any cheese you prefer.
  • Add finely chopped green chilies for extra heat.
  • Serve with mint chutney or tamarind sauce for dipping.
  • For a vegan version, use dairy-free cheese and egg substitute.
