- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup grated paneer or cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix grated cheese, garam masala, chili powder, cumin seeds, cilantro, and salt.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface.
- Spread the cheese mixture evenly over half of the pastry.
- Fold the other half over and press lightly to seal.
- Cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
- Twist each strip several times and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden and puffed.
Notes
- Substitute paneer with mozzarella or any cheese you prefer.
- Add finely chopped green chilies for extra heat.
- Serve with mint chutney or tamarind sauce for dipping.
- For a vegan version, use dairy-free cheese and egg substitute.
