Description

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract until combined. Add food coloring if desired.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.
  7. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Centers will look soft — do not overbake.
  9. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
