Description

Creamy and flavorful mashed potatoes enriched with butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese, perfect as a comforting side dish for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs russet or Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or milk)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Let them steam for 1-2 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  4. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or ricer until smooth.
  5. In a small saucepan, heat the cream (or milk), butter, and garlic (if using) until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm.
  6. Gradually add the warm cream mixture to the mashed potatoes, stirring until creamy.
  7. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, use Yukon gold potatoes and a potato ricer.
  • Adjust the amount of cream based on desired consistency.
  • You can add roasted garlic instead of raw garlic for a sweeter flavor.
