Description

A stunning Pink Ombre Cake with soft, fluffy layers that fade from light to dark pink, frosted with creamy buttercream. Perfect for birthdays, baby showers, or any celebration where you want to impress!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large egg whites (room temperature)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk (room temperature)
  • Pink food coloring
  • 4 cups buttercream frosting (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line the bottoms of four 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add egg whites one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Divide batter evenly into 4 bowls. Add increasing amounts of pink food coloring to each bowl to create different shades of pink.
  6. Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool cakes completely.
  7. Place the darkest layer on a cake stand, spread buttercream evenly on top, and repeat with remaining layers from darkest to lightest.
  8. Frost the outside of the cake with the remaining buttercream and smooth it for a clean finish. Decorate as desired.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for vibrant shades without altering the batter texture.
  • Chill the cake layers before frosting for easier stacking.
  • Buttercream can be tinted in matching ombre colors for the sides of the cake.
