Description
Salami and Cheese Pastry Pockets are a quick and savory snack or appetizer made with flaky puff pastry, melty cheese, and flavorful salami. Perfect for entertaining or a delicious on-the-go treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 8 slices salami
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or grated Parmesan (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 4 equal rectangles.
- Place 2 slices of salami and a couple tablespoons of cheese in the center of each rectangle, leaving a border around the edges.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash. Fold each rectangle in half over the filling to form a pocket and press the edges to seal with a fork.
- Place the sealed pockets on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with more egg wash and sprinkle with oregano and sesame seeds or Parmesan, if using.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Substitute with turkey, ham, or a vegetarian filling if desired.
- Serve with marinara or mustard for dipping.
- Make them ahead and freeze before baking for an easy snack anytime.
