Description

Seven-Layer Taco Salad is a vibrant, crowd-pleasing dish that features layers of seasoned ground beef, creamy beans, crisp lettuce, fresh veggies, cheese, and tangy sour cream. Perfect for potlucks, picnics, or a hearty lunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 (15 oz) can refried beans
  • 2 cups shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup salsa or guacamole (optional, for topping)
  • Tortilla chips for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, add taco seasoning and water according to packet instructions, and simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.
  2. In a 9×13-inch dish or large serving bowl, layer refried beans evenly as the base.
  3. Spread seasoned ground beef over the beans.
  4. Add a layer of shredded lettuce, followed by chopped tomatoes.
  5. Spread sour cream evenly over the top, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over it.
  6. Top with black olives and green onions. Add salsa or guacamole if desired.
  7. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve with tortilla chips if desired.

  • You can swap ground beef for ground turkey or black beans for a vegetarian version.
