- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 (15 oz) can refried beans
- 2 cups shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup salsa or guacamole (optional, for topping)
- Tortilla chips for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, add taco seasoning and water according to packet instructions, and simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- In a 9×13-inch dish or large serving bowl, layer refried beans evenly as the base.
- Spread seasoned ground beef over the beans.
- Add a layer of shredded lettuce, followed by chopped tomatoes.
- Spread sour cream evenly over the top, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over it.
- Top with black olives and green onions. Add salsa or guacamole if desired.
- Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve with tortilla chips if desired.

- You can swap ground beef for ground turkey or black beans for a vegetarian version.
