Description

Short Rib Pizza with Smoked Gouda Cream Sauce is a gourmet twist on classic pizza, featuring tender braised short ribs, a rich and smoky Gouda cream base, and your favorite toppings on a crispy crust. It’s indulgent, comforting, and full of deep, savory flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
    • 1 prepared pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
    • 1/2 lb cooked short ribs, shredded (boneless)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
    • 1/2 cup arugula or baby spinach (optional, for topping)
    • Fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Smoked Gouda Cream Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded smoked Gouda cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Place pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
  2. To make the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened, 2–3 minutes. Stir in smoked Gouda and Parmesan until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
  3. Roll out pizza dough on parchment paper to desired thickness.
  4. Spread a generous layer of the Gouda cream sauce over the dough.
  5. Top with shredded short ribs and red onion slices.
  6. Transfer the pizza (with parchment) to the hot stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until crust is golden and toppings are heated through.
  7. Top with fresh arugula or spinach, if using, and a sprinkle of herbs. Drizzle with olive oil or extra Gouda sauce, if desired.
  8. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

  • Braise short ribs ahead of time or use leftovers for convenience.
  • Try caramelized onions or mushrooms for extra depth.
  • Use naan or flatbread for a quick personal-size version.
