Description
Steak and Cheese Stuffed Pretzel Bites are soft, golden pretzel pillows filled with savory steak and gooey melted cheese. Perfect for game day, parties, or snacking, they combine the chewy goodness of a pretzel with the comfort of a Philly cheesesteak in one irresistible bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 batch pizza or pretzel dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 lb cooked steak, finely chopped (ribeye or sirloin recommended)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or provolone cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup diced onions (optional)
- 1/4 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
- 1/3 cup baking soda (for boiling water bath)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Coarse salt, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions and peppers in olive oil (if using), then add chopped cooked steak. Heat through and season with salt and pepper. Let cool slightly.
- Roll dough into a log and cut into 12–16 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a small circle.
- Add a spoonful of steak and a pinch of cheese to the center of each circle. Pinch the edges together to seal and roll into a ball.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add baking soda carefully. Boil each ball for about 20 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush each ball with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use leftover steak or deli-sliced roast beef for a shortcut.
- Try a blend of cheeses like cheddar and mozzarella for extra meltiness.
- Serve with a side of cheese sauce or mustard for dipping.
