Description

Steak & Queso Rice is a hearty, flavorful dish with tender grilled steak served over a bed of seasoned rice, topped with creamy queso sauce. A perfect balance of rich and savory flavors for a satisfying meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or Mexican rice)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup queso dip or cheese sauce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Rub the steak with olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Grill or sear the steak for 4-6 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness (medium-rare to medium). Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  3. While the steak is resting, heat the cooked rice in a large pan over low heat. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and queso dip until melted and combined.
  4. To assemble, place a serving of queso rice on a plate. Top with the sliced steak, diced tomatoes, and green onions.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can marinate the steak for 30 minutes to 1 hour before grilling.
