Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup fruit jam or preserves (strawberry, raspberry, or apricot work well)
- Optional: powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions

- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Using your thumb or the back of a spoon, gently press a small indentation in the center of each cookie.
- Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of fruit jam or preserves.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

- Make sure the indentations are deep enough to hold the jam without overflowing during baking.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
