Description
Tirokafteri is a creamy, tangy, and spicy Greek dip made with feta cheese, roasted red peppers, olive oil, and a hint of chili. It’s a bold and flavorful appetizer that’s perfect with pita bread, veggies, or grilled meats.
Ingredients
Scale
- 7 oz (200g) feta cheese
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
- 1 roasted red pepper, peeled and seeded
- 1–2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small red chili or 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp white wine vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove (optional), minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Add the feta, roasted red pepper, yogurt (if using), chili or chili flakes, vinegar or lemon juice, and garlic to a food processor.
- Blend until smooth and creamy. Drizzle in the olive oil while blending to achieve desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or more chili as preferred.
- Transfer to a serving bowl. Chill for 15–30 minutes to let flavors meld.
- Drizzle with extra olive oil and garnish with chili flakes or herbs before serving.
Notes
- Use good-quality feta for the best flavor—preferably Greek sheep’s milk feta.
- Can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in the fridge.
- Serve with warm pita, crackers, or fresh veggies.
- Add a pinch of smoked paprika for a deeper flavor.
