Description

Tirokafteri is a creamy, tangy, and spicy Greek dip made with feta cheese, roasted red peppers, olive oil, and a hint of chili. It’s a bold and flavorful appetizer that’s perfect with pita bread, veggies, or grilled meats.


Ingredients

  • 7 oz (200g) feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (optional, for creaminess)
  • 1 roasted red pepper, peeled and seeded
  • 12 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small red chili or 1/2 tsp red chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove (optional), minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Add the feta, roasted red pepper, yogurt (if using), chili or chili flakes, vinegar or lemon juice, and garlic to a food processor.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. Drizzle in the olive oil while blending to achieve desired consistency.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or more chili as preferred.
  4. Transfer to a serving bowl. Chill for 15–30 minutes to let flavors meld.
  5. Drizzle with extra olive oil and garnish with chili flakes or herbs before serving.

Notes

  • Use good-quality feta for the best flavor—preferably Greek sheep’s milk feta.
  • Can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in the fridge.
  • Serve with warm pita, crackers, or fresh veggies.
  • Add a pinch of smoked paprika for a deeper flavor.
